Dang it, I'm restarting my crappy reviews! Let's do #6, I think?
Overall ranking (rankings I'll explain at the very end):
Member level, "New to 'Isekai'" tier.
Chapters read through: 39, will likely continue.
Story:
The story overall is what an avid Isekai reader would have already seen. The fact that the male protagonist (MP) can tame other people like his female protagonist (FP) counterpart is probably new for non-erotica tagged manga, but that said, nothing else is new for the common Isekai reader. There's constant teasing of a relationship formed between the MP and FP, but after reading through chapter 39 I now see that expecting any "ship to sail" would be expecting too much from the author, unless they decide to use any furthering of their relationship as some Deus Ex Machina moment.
Due to the nature of the MP's ability, and the foreshadowing in early chapters, he will have multiple female companions tamed, be it monster-girls he has tamed before showing up on Earth, or new female companions from Earth (spoiler: there's already one more before chapter 39). If we're lucky, he may tame/have tamed one male, but it'll be unlikely that they pose any sort of love conflict the MP may have with FP or any other females he adds. Simple there.
Art style:
I'll admit, the only reason I wanted to review was because I loved the art style for the chapters up to chapter 28 were fun and refreshing for a manga. Sure, it is getting into the territory of in-color chapters that Manhwa (Korean manga) have basically become rulers of, but it definitely held up against some of Korea's popular titles for illustration. Then chapter 28 had an unusual change of artists. It's not uncommon in Manhwa to do this, but even they wait for a season to end. I have never seen this happen for a manga, but maybe it's not as noticable when in black and white. I don't know what happened to the artist, but a downgrade has been noticed; that said, I can still tolerate the look, but now they could go to black and white and I would feel no further surprise.
Side track: Manhua, Chinese manga, can go away. I can count on one foot how many PRC series had entertained me, and not one of them stayed enjoyable to read before reaching 100 chapters in.
Characters and world:
Standard for an Isekai/un-Isekai plot, but at least it's nothing bad. If the characters were a food, they would be a simple grilled cheese sandwich. It's a tasty read for those hooked on the Isekai genre, but there are tastier "sandwiches", and those with a lactose intolerance (dislike for popular genres) won't find any exception here. MP is either stereotypically stupid for any male protagonist that wants to form a harem but doesn't realize he's surrounded by female companions, purposefully putting up a barrier against FP to keep from being heartbroken. Either way, he sucks.
FP is kind of annoying because she's always trying to punch up the MP around others, and while she can take care of herself, she still gets protected by MP, even if it's part of their taming contract.
As for the world, not much other then some basic explanation of the world with dungeons and a brief showing of one of the protagonists' parents. More explanation about their Earthly enemies will likely come along, but it won't matter to read all of an explanation for some antagonists that will stick around for no more than 5 chapters.
Serie with similar appeal: (1) Jarryu Tensei
How I'll do rankings:
I'll treat it like Mangadex's forum tiers, with slight changes to names. I've also rated it to how much someone has read for manga. I base series completed and chapters read off of manga because most manga, not including 4-komas and 1-page shorts, seem to average 30 pages per chapter, and there is a fair amount of dialogue on each page of manga these days. I also based each series off of a short manga. That's the minimum of 24 short manga series, each with 25 chapters. I thought of upping it to a standard series that would go for 52 chapters, but for manga that'd be just gatekeeping for more than the already 2+ year's worth of manga for one series. Consider the Manhwa chapters to be doubled or tripled, considering how short a lot of them can be.
