@Kaarme: (9 months later) The idea is they are supposed to embody sin: Lust, Gluttony, and Wrath. Evil at its most pure (or "Prime Evil" in this case) and basic (not its most horrible) or as Baduta described: "Immorality" People forget that this is what pure evil is; not being a cruel and sadistic torturer/murderer/rapist/all of the above. As long as you let your life be ruled by the Seven Sins and you don't balance it with the Seven Virtues, that is what it means to be evil.
(btw, I'm not religious, but I remember reading about this some years ago).
