Their statement is extremely reasonable. I think half of the reader base are illiterate monkeys who can’t exercise basic comprehension. They’re upset about ingratitude, toxicity and complaining from people who have no moral rights to do so.
It's late, so even though I had written a well-thought out reply to this, I'll instead just say this: You're wrong.

it doesnt matter really if you read on our site or not. I just batch upload on MD, but people are ungrateful and whining that I upload after a while.
if it really didn't matter for you, for people to read it through your site, you would be uploading them on mangadex when they come out.
I have a job, but why should I spend everything from my own pocket and then spend more time scanlating the series. Just contribute somehow if you are reading, even thanks is good enough but you guys are just ungrateful.
they don't say thanks because you don't upload the chapters here when they come out, how do you expect people to be grateful, then don't act in scummy ways. There is a reason why mangadex is popular, people want something convenient, imagine if i read 644 manga across multiple sites...

I have been supporting translators that upload translations here for years. i don't care if they hold the latest chapter or just a couple chapters (or parts) in their site, as long as they upload them here at the rate that they translate. i don't care if the translators are not perfect as long as they respect the Japanese culture when translating them.

I only donate to those that do not act scummy, and don't blame their problems to the readers.

So you do have a job but you don't want to put money on the hobby. Weird but fair. Have you, I don't know, consider to instead of throwing a tantrum like a kid to kindly ask your readers? You want them to at least say thanks? Upload normally with a "decent" schedule, appear on the forums to talk to your own community (obviously without being rude) and more will appear to say thanks without even asking for it; there's some spanish uploaders on this site that do it regularly for some mangas I read and they never get comments and they keep doing it, I still send them messages every so often because they deserve it.

You would be surprised by how kind people actually can be when you ask for things nicely. "Guys I'm low on funds and I can barely pay the translator with my own pocket money, any kind of help is appreaciated" and I assure you will have a boost of people donating.

I believe most of us think that 6 mounts is a bit more than "a while".
it's just the amount of time before mangadex does anything because of the reports. the chapters were not uploaded for the readers, but because if they didn't upload, mangadex would have stepped in and banned them.

and here is another person that doesn't understand why fan translations exist...
I absolutely understand why fan translations exist. Since everything exists in a grey area it’s not up to the community of readers. It always has been a one-sided situation of individuals who choose to create and then post their translations. Those translators in turn have the right to hold their own opinions and express them. But lo-and-behold we have a culture of entitled pricks crying and complaining. Readers in this context have no rights, no policing and no complaining please. It’s a take it or leave it situation here. If the translator was professionally contracted and paid a fair award rate, then you could make a case that they keep their opinion to themselves and simply earn their keep.

I can start to see why you’re getting triggered. I don’t think it’s the entirety of Mangadex, but this particular subsection of readers is commanding less respect from me than what I offer to cockroaches. I feel for you.

but in this case the translator does not respect the reader, so there is no way to expect the reader to respect the translator. And the translators are the ones saying no one visits their site and no one donates, and people are pointing out the problems, or they are getting angry because of the disrespect.

Because something is free, does not mean that you can treat your readers like that, After all, it's showing with how few comments all their translations are getting recently. People don't like to be treated like this.
