@Yurnero @yldDavid I'm sure in your home countries there're also some things most of the citizens would miss if life takes them away from home for longer periods of time. The Japanese love of baths isn't difficult for me to understand since it's the same with sauna for my fellow countrymen. That being said, I find it quite bizarre a number of Japanese fantasy authors seemingly believe in old foreign civilizations people enjoyed being filthy and didn't have soap.

People usually bought their own cloth and made their own clothes, or if richer, had them tailored for them. The type of store where you just walk in and buy clothes wouldn't really exist, though resizing equipment would mean that armor and weapon shops and other "equipment" type shops certainly would sell premade gear, because of that effect.
