Yep, I honestly thought that was the case for the first few chapters with them. Granted, she is somewhat of a "yes-man" in general personality wise, which only makes it sometimes hard to tell just what she thinks of things. The tail, which somehow is able to move despite being only loose hair (no bones or muscles are in her tail), is a massive help.

To be fair, MC only start looking for new Slaves since he has to venture deeper to dungeon, and as much as he is fine with just Roxanne, having more firepower is more reassuring.

A bit spoiler: Second slave is a dwarf. Probably you can guess why he need a Dwarf.

It make me like and hate this but I guess it’s mainly the mc attitude, he is somewhat full of himself in a way but maybe it’s just to distract himself from the truth too
Though reading the light novel sort of begs to differ

Yeah, he grows the party because of the need for a larger party as he goes deeper, and also each brings something new in capabilities (either in gear support or combat role). The actual need he goes with as he keeps buying slaves, and doesn't even really think of non-slaves or freeing them anytime soon, is (hopefully something that continues to be downplayed/reduced in the manga):

because he can order them to keep his secrets of all the crazy crap he can do and the magic reinforces it, and he's paranoid as fuck about being found out that he breaks the common sense of the world in many ways (to the point where he doesn't want to share that knowledge with others about things that their society has wrong, cause then he might have to prove it and be found out).

EDIT: he's a self tsundere too: every time is like "i absolutely need more party members/slaves, it's not like i want them, i just need to raise my party strength" and shit like they must be girls because whatever, and monolgues about how roxanne might feel about it but it's ok

This manga is way too slow. All he has done was get Roxanne and bought a house in 30 chapters. Still fighting low tier monsters and taking showers at the end. I don't care about their stupid carpet, its just going to get dirty from all the smex they're going to have on it and end up throwing it away later. When do they actually fight real monsters instead of someone runaway farm animals?

him not sharing all his insecurities with roxanne and the rest of the girls, which is why we get so many inner monologues, it takes him along long time to slowly open up to the girls and fully trust that they dont just see him as a master but as a person they have a relationship with.... well everyone except the catgirl, shes too dumb to think of naything but fish.
