Yeah. Nor was it some grand scheme to save someone or make a moral standpoint. Just a sense of wrongness if he didn't do something, that was particularly strong with her. And it's not as if her stats were great either.

Usually it's a particularly useful and/or attractive (both for sales and appearance) slave MC wants to buy, and the counter-bidder is always the sleaziest person in the room who absolutely will abuse her even more than she's already been. It's also usually portrayed as a "good" act, despite only feeding into the slave industry.

Despite portraying the whole slavery at a better perspective, the story/author is still promptly forgetting about the whole thing right afterward and won't do anything interesting about/with it. So, just a typical annoying "slavery bad but some characters will get more sympathy out of it so we'll shove the thing in and that's about it" trope that nobody likes.
