I'm trying to understand what they meant by unsuitable for melee combat cause the only thing I could think of is during a charge or after one. Swinging a sword shouldn't be impacted, a halberd maybe but chances are you are gonna use a spear or lance whilst mounted for the initial charge and those horns just help you with stability and damage. After the initial charge you'd be swinging near you, at the body of the horse, not the head of the horse which you'd be stabbing towards

水臭い (mizukusai) means to be standoffish, distant, or reserved. Translating it literally like this is a very interesting choice XD He's basically saying "hey, woah, don't be strangers, bro" in that sentence.
