No, I think he was a working adult, but his last years were spent bedridden because overwork ruined his health. His wishes were based on all the years he spent working, thinking I'll take some time off one day, and then he ran out of days.

Pretty sure he was a desk jockey though, not an Engineer or Farmer of any sort. In fact if I remember correctly he even specifically mentions how his farming "knowledge" came from random videos he remembered watching not any professional experience.

I know this is just supposed to be turn your brain off wish fulfillment Isekai schlock like usual but having the dude being the one to teach the Dark Elves how to do modern engineering (modern by their standards at least) is some next level bullshit. He really should have just mentioned to them the machines he knew about from his world and the Elves have a spark of inspiration based on his descriptions and figure it out themselves.

As it stands he's too much of a Wunderkind, the other races/characters don't really have much room to show off except the Angels and Dragons (and even then it's just displays of power). This is part of the problem with Isekai and OP protagonists in general, why should we care about any of the other characters when the MC just handles everything? As it stands the only reason we care about any other characters is for comedy or thirst related reasons (surprised we haven't had another reminder about how every women within a 20 mile radius is constantly jumping his bones every night).

Hakuren had a personality and then she was beaten into the submissive little waif the author always wanted her to be by the MC knocking her up. Now she's boring and lame with very little screen time. It seems like that might be where the new Centaur girl is headed as well. I'm struggling to give a shit about any of the characters when they're all essentially just props to glaze up the MC some more or exist purely to be eye candy for the harem crowd.

I'm surprised Hakuren's Baby didn't show up in the "New Life" group of chapters, I was sure that's what it was referencing.

That's exactly how it's described everytime the Mountain Elves invent a Gundam, an umbrella, or a leaf spring. VC mentions something that was useful back home, in vague terms, they hound him for any details he can remember, and three workshop fires later they have a working prototype.

No, the ones in his bed also tend to live in his home, or within walking distance, unless it's like Rasashi and they're stationed further away for work. There are women in his villages that he doesn't sleep with you know, Yaa from the Mountain Elves and Kiabit are some notable examples.

How did he tinker his way to a catapult from air valves lol
Also, LHT PR caught sleeping again on first page.

I believe this tree is shown somewhere in the earlier chapters. Got it of the wikia site
To note, LH fucked up this chart and forgot to include Hazelnack, Maxbergack’s daughter.

he was terminally ill and spent most of his time in the hospital. he wanted to become a farmer because of a tv programme he watched when he was bedridden, because he couldn’t do stuff like that in his first life.

Fifth page of the first chapter he explains that he became ill in his thirties, due to overwork, you're right that he chose farming because of a TV show, but it wasn't because his whole life was in the hospital.

uhh...if their idea of engineering is that waterwheel driven air pump, i wouldn't be too worried about a nuclear device. if a good design were a sentence, that pump would be a crapton of random words with a period at the end.

That makes sense tho I’d think other than him experimenting and recreating some weapons and tools/inventions himself he could probably just describe what he remembers and have a team of the villagers to research /attempt it

Tho I’m sure there are other Isekai where the mc also does bc of an illness overall vs overwork specifically

I might’ve been thinking of Tenohira
Village but the mc of that got more screwed over after being reborn

Yeah, he's only tried to make some fairly simple things by himself, most of the time the Elves or others will take over a project and he only ends up carving the hard to use Death Forest wood to make the components.
