I can accept that answer. It is at least a reasonable thing to be considered given the scale of the movement and the time frame.

I was also thinking that it could possibly be due to the local monsters in the East and West regions. Where possibly they would be easier or harder to deal with depending on the season, but then I remembered that there are not many creatures or people even capable of reaching the castle who are not residents or allied with the village already. The 3 apex teir aerial races (dragon, vampire, and angel) are already married to the MC after all.
