I mean, the premise of this is the MC doing the NTR'ing, especially with the summary. That gives a very different impression of what the NTR will be like in this manga, and thus would be drawing in a very different crowd to standard ntr.

This is drawing in the netori crowd- where it's the actual main character doing the cucking, and generally the cucking is actually deserved(see most of the girls turning out to be bitches)-.. that clashes with this reveal which is regular netorare(MC getting cucked), which obviously has a different fanbase.

They're two very different niches.

I don’t think it was the author’s intention, but this premise is actually kinda relevant now with AI girlfriend chatbots and stuff becoming a thing.

All of the player characters become emotionally attached to AI / NPCs, which can ultimately become rewritten or paywalled etc. The players become desperate because of how enmeshed they’ve become with artificial constructs, and eventually become tools to be manipulated.

Only Naoto, who is consistently and primarily focused on other players - actual humans - is able to maintain his sense of direction and identity even when he’s at odds with the people around him.
