He turned into a velociraptor to kind of reset his brain. He can't get attached to/stuck in Alicia form because becoming a velociraptor is infinitely more appealing than any human form.

He transformed into a velociraptor is because the spirit demands it as compensation and he actually enjoys being one because he doesn't have to worry about stuff.

I have a fun theory that after he tells his story or at somepoint it will randomly come out, Oji will go "Oh, do you guys wanna go see it?" and he will reveal he could have taken them over and showed them it first hand the entire time. Maybe meet with Elf san or something.
