I'm guessing you're too young to know. This was every game. This was normal for us.

I got my start playing Super Mario Bros. on the NES. I didn't really have a lot of access to games then, so I got to play the stuff that's well known enough to float onto the surface, but that was ages ago. Some games communicate their design elegantly enough, others require a level of information you don't always have access to at a time when the internet was just getting off the ground.

And yeah, Takafumi is the kind of gamer that's embarrassing to be around.

There isn't a whole lot of good advice in this chapter. Author might actually be shit at the game.
Anyway, surefire way to beat the first boss is listed on the weapon test screen. just zero teleport when you're at full health through the guy, he'll be dead before you know it. If you fuck that up, it's still not the worst fight in the game, at least. homing force is a good choice, i suppose, at first.
Learning how to use counter force is what you really need to do to beat the game.

It's incredible that Ojisan would justify bad interface design and bad game design decisions as a "good" game.

The implementation may be strange, but it forces you to make time for changing weapons, which leads to interesting gameplay.

It will be kinda hilarious if Elf-san makes it to Uncles world and finds he has been using her likeness. RIP uncle, and Japan would find it curious how all the snow melted(heat radiating from Elf blush/anger)

Of course with this author, I am completely clueless whether it is building towards tragic end(elf dies), humorous end(uncle fled from elf to his first love, sega), or if it is a tragic end fakeout played for humor.

Modern game guides have straight up ripped games open and can give you actual numbers.
