2: There isn't such a thing as a road tax. We all pay for public amenities and services with our taxes. So that's a very stupid argument.
Didn't you know? You can just go to city hall and declare "I don't drive so exempt me from road taxes!"
In all seriousness it takes a special kind of person to think that I, who has chosen to walk or bike because I live near where I want to be, doesn't deserve to use the road when they themselves live outside my city so aren't even paying for the upkeep of my roads, or do live in the city but don't think they're a bigger drain on the system than I am.
EDIT: Adding a sad statistic, during the recent dark times almost every other country had a reduction in road collisions and fatalities, but the US saw a marked increase because there were fewer cars on roads and therefore enough runway for idiots to speed up and kill themselves.
