Lol, I live in the west, so his "definition" of tumbleweed stuck out like a sore thumb to me, too. They're dead thistle plants. The cappa trying to eat it and play with it was goofy, too. Tumbleweeds have crazy amounts of pointy (and painful) seeds that snag on things as the tumbleweed rolls by. They're also only edible when they're still young and green.
