So, I went ahead to read the novel of this because I was curious. This part of this series I feel the manga does a better job with because in the novel the maid is just a random girl that was chosen to sleep with the MC. The fact that the mangaka decided to add a bit of a prior relation makes this ritual a little less random feeling and gives a better connection with her. The novel itself is fairly average, and I expect this to be as well.
