Definitely more setup and backstory than the previous arcs. Our hero might not also get through this as easily- my biggest complaint about the previous arcs would be how everything just conveniently fell in place for him and he barely struggled at all.

The circumstances of this castle is rather suspicious in general. No one has seen or heard from the lord directly in years. The butler handles all communication with the outside world. It's practically dripping with the standard trope of "The servant slowly manipulating and eliminating the family to gain control over its fortunes."
