As an aside, I love mana break type spells in games and stories.

Templars from DA or Anti Mage in DotA, or going lightning build in Skyrim and hunting down casters were some of my favorites.

I forgot which WH40k faction had it but there was a "Suffer not the Witch" and then Grey Knights with Nemesis Weapons for use against Chaos.

So the caster is not affected by the spell. This practically makes Kaede a mage killer. Empty the mana from 1 spell is crazy.

Just imagine if Kaede fights against evil god or something and empty their mana. Easy win, and Ria has no mana to begin with.
