The “bad guy” of this arc is actually pretty good, his reasons for what he became is very understandable, and his willingness to try to understand her is quite pleasant. I am strangely addicted to this manga and can’t wait to see what happens next
That's right. I'm strangely addicted to this too. And it's really weird knowing this is by the same guy who wrote Heavenly Castle.

Heck, looking back at it, Foa even says "certainly, the magic she uses is like a miniature version of the actual phenomenon", meaning it isn't even something they don't know, because he's able to confirm that it matches the science. That's even worse than I thought initially, because it's not even that they don't know about the water cycle, but that they do, and nobody thought to ever try to emulate the water cycle with water magic until Aoi said "hey why don't you try to do it with magic" with no further explanation? Really? That just feels ridiculous.

Aoi didn't go "why don't you try to do it with magic", she explained HOW to do it with magic.
Or more specifically, the part you seem to fail to get: HER WAY of doing it.

She never claim her magic is the exact same thing as the original electricity magic, this is just her own way of doing it.
Because there isn't just one way of doing magic.

If anything she'd love for someone to do it without using her theories, because it means she get to see/learn how to make electricity in different way.

I'm a bit bummed that this was so one-sided with no fault/lackings on Aoi's side, because Foa's argument is how this thing would totally go outside of generic fantasy manga, at least to some degree.

There's no reason a reasonably advanced civilization like this wouldn't understand the basics of cloud formation, to the point where someone going "yeah steam/vapor rises and then it cools and makes clouds which come back down as rain" constitutes an actual lesson to the point that it lets students perform an original never-before-seen magic. That's the exact kinda thing where IRL a genius would go "it's just X and Y, it's that simple" and the students would go "...that doesn't really help me."

Like obviously it's manga and the author's not gonna write some high-end magical lecture here, but I just kind of eyeroll at the whole "isekai'd person blows fantasy world genius' minds with elementary school knowledge" trope whenever it shows up. It just tends to paint everyone else as morons to show how smart the MC is, without actually having to write them as that smart.
It's not too far fetched if you think about it.

When you can heal your body harm with heals, not much people will learn about how it works except select few like necromancer. As a result, scientific medical knowledge expansion slows down.

Same with weapons. Why they bother to build guns when they can shoot fireball or imbued arrows with wind magic to snipe.

Similar to our world, we just learn how to harness electricity in the last few centuries that was after thousand or millions civilizations has rise and fall. We learn how to shoot metal ball before we have electricity.

Isekai story usually centered around the turning point of a civilization but with how much this trope are used in isekai, you feel like this plot is dumb when it is actually is overused.

All Foa's effort in teaching until now is what makes it hard to give his acknowledgment directly.

Similar situation have appeared in several settings: Science development takes time effort and money, while magic is basically the superior version with faster results and far more development and investions on it

If for example magic blacksmithing exists, normal blacksmiths would be either an inferior version or just designed for mass production . Someone somehow learning the secrets of blacksmith and being able to create comparable products would be keeping that knowledge just for themselves and their successors alone since its value goes up with its rarity, and more people learning would meanr their own product would lose value due to being too accesible

Magic is also a way to keep the society status quo and hierarchy, and no one wants to give the masses the possiblity of being a muggle while being able to kick a mage's ass using science (like a mage dieing by a commoner using a pistol)

To be fair, I think that he may be redeemed, he casted his pride aside only to learn more.

His position as a senior was conquered through years of study in a hierarchical nobility society, in which if one offends one of higher rank, they can have their life ruined due to a petty argument, for him to reach his position, he had to work for it.

Then Aoi just parachuted out of nowhere and in a couple of days became an Advanced Class Teacher, the dude had his reasons to be skeptical, anyone would be in this situation.

This is my one gripe with the fantasy isekai trope. Magic in most of these stories is a super cheap form of energy. Their civilization would be light years ahead of us. That is unless they were constantly held at bay by something like monsters keeping their population low (less people doing research). Bad geography could also cause a lack of development but most of these places have horses and the wheel with robust agriculture.
