and you do realize he was single handedly responsible for saving the people of the previous city and responsible for STOPPING the monster horde and saving this city. he deserves better then being put in jail for being a hero to these people

and their proof of him being on their side before detaining him was? Like i said, they went the safer route of forgiveness, perfectly understandable given the circumstantial evidence they had that he was a member of the terrorist group.
