This chapter is so poorly done, it's incredible. I think I'd need a 2 sentence explanation on each page to know what's going on.

Either this author knows too much about naval battles, or nothing at all, because I have no idea what was supposed to be happening there.

I really hope this naval battle is wrapped up next chapter, otherwise it's going to get very exhausting.

@DarkLordAlfie Pretty sure it's nothing. The author is just sprinkling in some terms he's run across, seems addicted to spanking as much as he talks about the spanker. Throws in port and starboard, but then starts talking about clock facings instead of compass bearings. Plus, what exactly are these ships armed with? Mages? We see wreckage, but no weapons that would actually wreck a ship.

All that said, I still enjoy the story, but I also hope the naval portion of this arc ends in the next chapter.

Isn't she chasing the pirates? Now the situation just turns upside-down.

is only my opinion that the manga is going down in quality content?
I prefered a lot the slice of life making money than these sloppy political wars

first she get out-maneuvered, then encircled, then there's some ship burning, and then she escaped the encirclement because wind.
then it's shown that the detached pirate force actually attacked the other army all along, although they're bad at it.

yep, i don't understand shit.

Okay, first of all, what really should be getting people's attention is that ship being lit on fire... by a torch... against the hull...
Yeah, sure, the rest of the chapter is also a clusterfuck but THAT was just absolutely retarded. It's actually pretty damn hard to burn down a sailing ship. The sails and pretty much the only thing on board that'll readily catch fire, if only because you can't treat the material without making it too heavy. Everything else, including rope, is treated against, you guessed it, fire. The hull itself is actually really, REALLY hard to damage with fire because it is naturally treated with sea-salt.

What the flying fuck, man!?

Oh, so it's not only me that just doesn't get anything in this chapter. And maybe the author doesn't either, sounds just like a bunch of rubbish. Art was unimpressive too, the chapter was pretty bad.

Fire ships were a thing; however, those were big floating bonfires producing enough heat they COULD set fire to a ship. If the flame burned high enough it could even reach the sails if the ship had any.

From what I can tell from the chapter, the pirates were aiming to delay one fleet while attempting to surround and board. So, they are fighting for an advantage before boarding by singling the other out. Most likely.
