At this point, why ever bother to be given the territory? Could just have brokered a deal for him to deal with the invasion for [insert valuables [and princesses, to continue his streak] here]. Yeah, but it's not like it would be hard. He can just setup a gate and have the knights check up on the place a few times a day, won't even need to put in much effort because of the walls having magic to send everything back to the enemy, in fact, its almost too lazy to be called defending.

Pretty sure the idea is to give him temporary leeway to do whatever the hell he wants on that piece of land the wall is on without any diplomacy issues until the war over at which point he can just give the land back and leave the wall there for the future.

It's pretty goofy that the army came back at all. An enemy that can teleport your entire army back to your castle is effectively a delete button. Might as well have your army ride off a cliff for all the good it'll do you.

To my knowledge, the character, Washu Hakubi, did this first and best in the OVA series, Tenchi Muyo Ryo-Ohki. She made it so that anyone who just opened the door to Tenchi's room without knocking first instantly got teleported about ten meters above the lake.

I wonder if it will ever end up being part of some trading network, since apparently you can shortcut 10 days of travel with your trading caravans long as you're willing to end up in the palace..

Edit: Also if someone else doesn't like that country, they can just start shoveling manure against the wall..

Considering that Touya has the ability to enchant Gate to stuff like mirrors (Mismede arc), i’d like to believe that currently it’s more of a discretion to prevent misuse that’s stopping him from developing a full-on teleportation hub of some sort.

Ofc if anyone who has read the WN is willing to spoil this point, don’t forget to spoil tag it. Far as I’m concerned, Touya’s not one to abuse the hell out of mechanics like a meta-addicted gamer to line his pockets.

Oh, I completely meant just normal people figuring "why not do it like this"?

(I mean, MC can build his own network and secure it whichever way he wants, but this wall is public access and seems to work for all and sundry.)
