tbh I won't fault the merchant for not helping the villagers especially if they're rotten to the core but I do agree that destroying the cart is dumb as hell. unless it is to help transport the remaining villagers it wouldn't but if it wasn't, merchant is dumb as hell.

idk fam, i think you are missing the part where they beat the shit out of him first.

but really it depends, this guy probably wont be getting away with it that easily considering he stole from them.
Its one thing to look out for yourself, but he actively sabotaged their effort and stole from them.
