i wouldnt be surprised if a lot of noble girls from around the place are interested in him, after all, consider everything he has done so far, so her mother is probably talking about the daughters all the other noble women she's friend with and tell her about it

I think he knows what his little sis sees him as, and probably felt that the best way to honor her gift was to pretend like he's back to his old self, but we know that he's just putting on a show for her sake. He plays like an arrogant noble, but he's show many times that he's very insightful emotionally.
