I get that Japan is pretty insular, but you'd think that writers might occasionally do at least the minimum level of research on other cultures, even if it's experienced through an entertainment medmedium.
Think this sort of ignorance is just a common trait that most authors have. You get all sorts of wonky laws, flawed governments, and absolutely ass backwards personal interactions between characters. Just the other day I was reading a story where an author had their OC confidently state that normal modern cars steer with their brakes.

I just don't know anymore. I truely worry for the general direction our world seems to have taken and how so many just either turn a blind eye or actively encourage the decent into madness.

While yeah, IRL the taste of homegrown crops is usually placebo.

In this case, it is likely that his farm cheat powers magically alter the taste of his crops to taste better.

I assume magical beings can literally "taste the magic" infused in his crops.
Yes and no, While we do have the "I/We made this" factor IRL, the improved taste of homegrown crops are mostly just that they are fresher than any other source and they haven't (usually) been transported for any long duration or distance. If you'd eat basicly any crop directly at the source then most crops would be just about as tasty as any other crop.

That plant saw another 'flying nuisance' and remembered that the last one burned some stuff so it preemptively attacked until she surrendered
