@Tych - well, if you're looking to make a career, a god's retainer is one of the best posts you can get. You're probably at least as important as a king or a pope.
And you have a chance to be promoted to full god if there is a vacancy.
If you want to just laze around occasionally hunting monsters, it's not the best position. Gods usually expect you to do most of their work. Still, many retainers, especially the ones in charge of combat, aren't doing anything unless there is an emergency, so it's fine too.
But the best part is the perks of the job. The job comes with a quite strong version of immortality, and you get awesome powers (unless you already have awesome powers).
The important part to look out for, is what god made you his retainer. Most gods only give this position to people they have a good relationship with, and keep a good relationship. But if you're working with a god who is a bad boss, it's going to suck. And you're so immortal you can't even commit suicide.
You're also likely to be involved in all conflicts that involve your god. Well, most of the time, mortals can't evade them either, but you'll be getting a big target on your back, like being a minister of something as opposed to commoner.
@Kyto1984 He might have been 28 when he was killed originally, but the new body that Syl made him is only 20 according to the status screen in chapter 1.
@flannan imagine there being spoilers for the manga. It just goes to show that no matter how deep you go, there will always be someone that's gone deeper lol..
You act as though Takumi won't make an effort to raise them to be responsible kids. Sure, he's almost always going to indulge them, but he's also going to instill proper values into them.
And gosh darn it, they're going to be cute all the way through.
"Is that okay?"
(which implies that the person saying it shouldn't be allowed to receive anything for their work), instead consider:
"Are you sure?"
Or perhaps:
"You sure, man?"
The colloquial flavor of those phrases in English gives context clues to the speaker just double checking, and being grateful.
The constant theme of 'MC saves entire town and forcefully demands that the town denigrate him in every possible way' is fucking dumb, and it isn't actually what's happening in a lot of cases; it’s just a poor translation.
