She didn't know much about the nanny back then, so she basically gave the woman a chance to prove her nature, not striking haphazardly against her. However, now Debora witnessed the nanny's true, vile, nature, so there was no need to hold back. If the nanny had actually been an honourable person, just overly stiff and strict, there would have been no need to get rid of her. She should have merely been told to moderate her methods.
