I had the audacity to reread Domekano (i'm now on ch70 out of 276) and can tell Rui was being foretold to be some sort of rebound for Natsuo. Yea, there could have been very conflicting feelings for her because she was his 1st time and she was the 1st to show affection towards him despite of starting at odds due to Rui being an antisocial, but the pattern was always that Rui was some sort of rebound or backup plan for him and him trying his best to see her as just an imouto, and having his moments of deviation because she was his 1st time and men are horny and such. But from what i'm seeing with clarity, the thing was that Natsuo was always more of a simp for Hina and was too eager to become an adult so she could take him seriously (a reminder Natsuo agreed to have sex with Rui because 1st he got rejected by Hina and 2nd, he was desperate to become an adult), despite of the fact that she was engaged with Shuu at that time and him and Rui had a hand on their breakup. My opinion can get expanded further as i resume the rereading.

Domekano's spice was the telenovela romance, but the core theme was Natsuo having to learn the hard way what does mean to be an adult, given he was the hotheaded type of person. And it was waaaay more than just being 18yo so you could rail your hot teacher and become le NTR bvll.

This obviously can't go anywhere because it would wreck the whole central conceit of the theory. So it just makes it more obvious that it's just "for the drama" or as a stall tactic before he probably does something dumb like go right back to pining for Lili (and i say that as someone who actually liked Lili at the outset.) so I just can't bring myself to give a damn or even be intrigued/excited for the idea that he's actually giving a relationship a shot. Because we know damn well he's going to get into it, then screw it up and break her heart because he needs to go back to the unhealthy obsession that he was trying to get away from in the first place. And honestly I'm not sure I could get behind any of the other sharemates either because almost all of them have some aspect that I dislike.

I think I'm done and am tapping out.

With this author, it's best not to be invested because she'll just pull an ending out of her ass down the line that doesn't align with pre established relationships and whatnot.
Essentially, the best way to read this author is to go right to the comments after reading and laugh at the Trainwreck.

The MC is so dense and purposely written so bad you're better off rooting for the girls to find anyone else. A doorknob would be a better match with the girls than Hiromi with anyone lol

Great, Hiromi is about to ruin another relationship. Why? Because he still can’t get over Lili. He spent most of this date thinking about her instead of focusing on Nonoka or the date itself. Jumping into a relationship right now feels like a slap in the face to all the development he’s had since coming to Wakayama. It’s like his conversation with Yakuri never even happened.

Yet here he is, getting ready to start something with Nonoka without being fully invested in her as a person. I just don’t see this relationship lasting. It’s not going to end well. Maybe if the writer intended for him to stay in Wakayama, it could have worked, but that’s clearly not the case since we know he’ll eventually go back to Tokyo. So why have him try to start a relationship now?

Between the previous chapter and this one, there are still a lot of unanswered questions. And while I’m not a fan of him reminiscing about Lili, I can understand it to some extent. She was the person he was just in a relationship with, and he saw her not too long ago, so it’s natural he’d still feel something. But using that as motivation to jump into a relationship with Nonoka makes no sense, especially after all the growth we’ve seen from him in the last few chapters.

But It is what it is. I just see this as a quick crash and burn because the MC is once again being set up to not learn from his mistakes. That’s just my opinion.
