You guys are kidding when you say he ends with Yuakari, right? Please tell me you guys are kidding.
I think a lot of people see Yukari as best girl (which she is, in isolation: she's the only one of the sharehouse women who actually has her life figured out). But she's not the best girl for Hiromi, because they have opposed life objectives: she defines her happiness as "being free. Knowing what brings you joy, dependent on no one, bound by nothing and being able to choose how you live." (Ch6, p12)

That's diametrically opposed to Hiromi's dreams of having children and a big family. Sure, maybe the storyline is going to be him deciding he doesn't want that at all, but I kind of doubt it.

Even this misery would be worth reading if Hiromi actually had the balls to get angry. Will Hiromi roll over and take it again or will he actually stand up for himself this time?

Nonoka betrayed him in just about every way she could without also killing his grandmother.

I’m also curious about what Hiromi do when he inevitably finds out about what Anju did, and that everyone hid it from him.

I’ve never been accused of being an optimist but I admit that I’m hoping to see some actual rage here.

I also wouldn’t be sad if Nonoka and her ex both got murdered by the chick that her ex just dumped. ;)

Right. I think this is kind of the million-dollar-question that determines whether this arc was pointless drama or meaningful narrative: how will Hiromi change and grow from the experience?

If the answer is "everything reverts to the pre-Wakayama status quo", that will be very disappointing and I'll be on board with the people who accuse Sasuga of inserting drama for its own sake. But I legitimately think she's a better author than that, and that this whole arc has a point and will lead to meaningful character development.

I'm honestly curious if Nonoka was intended to serve some greater purpose in the narrative—like, fully pushing Hiromi to stop looking backward in his life.
I wonder if that's just what this is, though: maybe she's the straw that'll break the camel's back. This is the third break-up Hiromi's been through in, what... months? Weeks? He's either going to keep making the same mistakes for a while (or maybe forever, if Sasuga's feeling a bit sadistic) until he does eventually learn, or this will be what causes a significant change in how he views his dream of a perfect family and which kinds of girls he pursues from here on out. Either way, whether it happens immediately or if he's going to make even more, even messier mistakes that have lasting consequences, I'm predicting this break-up is going to hit him MUCH harder than the last one with Lily. Hiromi has a very idealistic view of relationships currently, and that MUST break down and something much more realistic (and hopefully healthy) needs to take its place if we want some sort of good ending.

Is this the famous "drama for drama's sake" this mangaka is known for? Like, some pointless, bullshit crap is happening just to have another iteration of "will they, won't they?" to pretend there's some actual, believable drama going on?

Anyone upset should've seen this coming chapters ago when Nonoka's friends were like... 'Oh, that's great, you don't have to take care of your boyfriend. He can take care of himself, unlike your last boyfriend'. And we got that whole thing with Nonoka being told she likes to baby her boyfriends and be the caretaker.

It was 100% going this way.
I 100% knew it was coming

That doesn't stop me from being mad anyways.

Let me guess she loves unemployed abusive cheating men more than normal ones because she's fked in the head and we only saw the good parts

How can she do the same thing to someone else that was done to her?

Hiromi has a very idealistic view of relationships currently, and that MUST break down and something much more realistic (and hopefully healthy) needs to take its place if we want some sort of good ending.

He had a big arc with Anju that, in my view, ended in him helping her see that she needed to grow past the confined view of romance and love and relationships that were instilled in her via her mother. That this happened in the midst of him "going backwards" by reconnecting with a childhood friend/crush with the intention of moving out & in with her and pursuing marriage, makes me think that this whole arc twisting Nonoka and Anju together is foreshadowing for Hiromi specifically.

He's definitely still operating under this incredibly idealistic—arguably naive or at even childish, maybe—view of what "a relationship" entails. Marriage, kids, a house with room for all of it. That's like the pictures 1st graders draw in class complete with the smiling sun in the corner of the page. Hiromi's lived experiences have shown him that such fantasies are largely just that for a lot of people much of the time. Somehow the most put-together person in Yukari feels like she'd be the healthiest partner for Hiromi, but as someone else said elsewhere in the thread, they sit at cross purposes, and Yukari's figured her life out already and is perfectly happy having no one and nothing tying her down.
If I had to guess, and if I were assuming Sasuga Kei is using some "established" form of character-centric storytelling format, that we're actually hitting the point where Hiromi starts sinking into a darker place. I don't know if he'll actually get angry, but this is three failed relationships, after he'd turned down Anju, Mio, and Tsubasa to where the latter has gone and gotten herself a rebound that she's clearly second-guessing. Four of the Five housemates want to actively pursue him at this point to some degree, and Hiromi might swear off "committed relationships" at this point and try the impromptu route this go around. A sort of "this isn't working, now for something completely different".

I actually think we might see Tsubasa come back in. She also just had a "meet the parents" moment where the matriarch of her family/company just told her "who's this scrub? Where'd that nice [Hiromi] feller go?" and she's been regretting it since I bet the day she got drunk and slept with her kouhai. She's under increasing pressure to do something about this succession business, and I kinda wonder if she's gonna get drunk and push Hiromi down (or even pretend to be drunk while doing it for plausible deniability), and maybe Hiromi will just lean into it because "ah, fuck it who cares".
Which I think would piss off Anju especially, but also get Lily re-involved, and perhaps even Mio. (oh, plus Tsubasa's boyfriend.) That would certainly make stuff way messier, but it could also be a way to sink Hiromi's character into the narrative muck of complete chaos and uncertainty as to who he is and what he actually wants, essentially annihilating his ego and forcing him to rebuild himself from the ground up as a person rising from the wreckage.

Basically, I think Hiromi might have to "destroy" himself and then remake himself. This feels like a prime point for him to be fed up, swear off anything meaningful, and sink into a bad place of relative debauchery before getting his feet back under himself—maybe once again with the help of Yukari, or maybe even with the aid of the one pupil he had who he'd been "tutoring" toward being a better person in the dating scene. There are people who are out there who could serve as guides and helpers to him, but I think he needs something that'll fully dissolve the rigid perspectives he's clinging to before anything constructive can be accomplished.

All the messy drama that involves mutliple sharemates in a sexual capacity would just be prime "Sasuga Kei Soap Opera" material along the way.

I do wonder where Yukari truly sits on relationships. I think it's clear she's attracted to Hiromi in some manner, but with the way he is now, there's no way she'd end up in a relationship with him. He just has no need to approach her as he is now, every girl he's gotten with after the first girl has been because he's a meddler. Yukari is the only person who doesn't need fixing, she's self-actualized and has done nothing but help him when he's needed it, as opposed to the other girls, who have all done nothing but be helped by him. Either way, I think it's worth paying attention to the fact that Yukari is basically an anti-Hiromi. She's content to just stay out of everyone's business unless they really do need help, she doesn't like being caught in the middle of things, and she definitely isn't out to fix people like Hiromi is. He's going to need to be okay with her doing what she loves and also get over his need to be a savior. Whether he ends up with Yukari or not, I do predict he's going to crash out hard and she's going to help him again, and her nature as an independent person who's content to just let people be is going to come into focus and become very apparent as being in opposition to Hiromi's character.

It's been mentioned before, but to your point about her being an anti-Hiromi (which I agree with for the same reasons you stated), that she also represents a potential future-Hiromi, in the sense that she's self-actualized and content with knowing what she wants in life and having achieved it.

So in that sense, perhaps she's a goal-point for Hiromi...just not in terms of a relationship, but more a state of being. He could still go through the process of growing and discovering himself and really figuring out what he truly wants in life, and it turns out that "family & kids & house & career" is still the answer. But at that point Hiromi will have grown through learning how to achieve those things in a healthy manner with a partner who is balanced against him and that he doesn't seek to "help and protect and meddle with" the whole time, and whom he can be comfortable around and not feel jealous or unsure or anxious or like he has to put on an act.
I think I'd kinda like to see Sasuga Kei make Yukari some sort of "monk on a mountain" figure for Hiromi, who doles out wisdom to help him on his journey, but is otherwise not part of his romantic relationship path. She'd be a mentor-like friend to him, perhaps a confidant of sorts, but that's the extent of it because she exists beyond where he resides, whereas the other four (and Nonoka and his first ex) are stuck in the thick of it just like he is.

That's me writing this though, and I know enough to know that Sasuga has a plan, at the very least, so.

See, that's another thing that actually has me wondering if Yukari is endgame. For most of DomeKano,
Hina was "unattainable", even though the two in that story actually got together for a bit before breaking up, the relationship was presented as something that just wasn't in the cards. Until the relationship actually did come to fruition and in the trashiest way possible.

Also, I do wonder which of the other girls on Hiromi's level would work the best. I'd say Tsubasa is the clear front-runner, then Anju>Lily>Mio. If I'm sniffing this out correctly, I think he's going to get passed around between the four of them and get tugged every which way possible and we're going to see an actual competition this time. But Yukari, as usual, is going to sit that shit out because she's already happy and there's no way she's going to put herself in the middle of all of that. I'm hoping it'll be an especially nasty bloodbath.

So, as far as satisfying outcomes go, I'd say it's either:
1. Yukari end after they spend more quality time together once he's sufficiently broken down and rebuilt.
2. Tsubasa end. There's that thing she said about them getting together if neither of them have a partner later on down the line. I don't think he'd work well with any of the other girls.
3. Forever alone end. Or, at least, just moving on from the sharehouse after he's learned to find happiness on his own, with the hope of finding a future partner with that new healthier mindset. Though it's arguable if this is "satisfying", it'd still be a nice hopeful ending for him after everything gets fucked up at the sharehouse. And I predict it will.

Totally agree, but I have to say it happened faster than I thought... I guess that is why it was so obvious

Even if Lily didn't cucked him, he felt like that because of her male friend.

From Hiromi's POV that would be 3 cheaters in a row, lol.
