That's what I assumed. That illustration also shows it's not far north of the Arctic Circle, since it's night, or it's much later in the year than the date of this chapter. Further north and it'd be a midnight sun during the summer. In June you have a day of midnight sun on the Arctic Circle, but it quickly goes to weeks and months the closer to the North Pole you get.
You can see aurora farther south, though. I've seen it not far north of Uppsala, and in Västerås (which is roughly as far north as Stockholm).
