I've noticed a couple of times in Korean toons or manhwa, someone will have an independent business and their family, who has a bigger business, will decide that it's OK to fuck with or ruin their business in order to bend them to what the family wants (like, marry who we want you to or stuff like that). And often the person will give in! Like here, she's saying "I'll consider it"--yeah, no. All "I'll consider helping you out" is gone forever the moment you try to ruin my life (and my employees' lives) to make your point. You threaten me to get me to do what you want, you're no longer my family and I owe you nothing except maybe revenge. And I really don't care what traditional Korean culture might say about strong family ties and suchlike--when your "strong family ties" are based on mafia tactics, hell with 'em.

@Purplelibraryguy For things like that I tend to wonder how much is because of cultural differences and how much for drama. I guess the targets not being seriously pissed off when their families pull shit like that points to cultural. But many people tend to let their families get away with much in general.
