Plot twist: Itai-san finally stops being single... by getting together with a beautiful doting girlfriend.

...I'd read that.

Itai-sans aura can put a wet blanket even over hot rumors.

I wanna see this eventually turn into a watamote thing where she actually ends up having friends and becomes less awkward with still the weirdness of her character

One chapter with a joke about how a gay rumors went about her colleague due to misunderstanding. People in the comments "is it yuri now?" Classic.

@t28 So that another series of a more or less realistic description of female experience turns into another CGDCT for moe fetishists? No, don't.

@Airsaber You have literally described any yuri manga whose protagonist is originally obsessed with boys. That's a pretty old trope lol.

Ayy, maybe she'll finally make a good friend she can rely on! I'm rooting for them both.

@SuperOniichan - nah couldn't care less about yuri or the moe. (I just use Watamote as an example because Tomoko was/is a mess but her getting """better""" has been enjoyable to see.)

I'd just like to see her get some development over time. There are hints of wholesomeness here and there so its not like she is a bad person by any means — just awkward. Wouldn't mind seeing her situation improve over time (through a mix of here own efforts and maybe through the quirky supporting cast — not at the cost of the awkwardness though). Multiple volumes of "lol isn't she pathetic" are only good for so long etc.

That would be interesting, in fact I am starting to become a bit bored of the feeling that the author just wanna give a "pathetic" character, maybe this new girl could give a new vibe, some character development or a small arc, but I wouldn't be to sure, because arcs in this manga are really small and any character sticks for too long.

@t28 I have nothing against her development, either. It just annoys me when I read stories about realistic experiences and the people in the comments seem to just want the satisfaction of yet another fetish. For example, if a manga is about friendship, then someone will constantly expect it to become gay, and if it's about sibling love, then someone will always expect a wincest at the end.

One way or another, as Maki-sensei said, any development should fit into the general logic of the work, and not change at the whim of the author or audience. I always think about that when I think about the Fast and the Furious from a relatively realistic police drama about racers turned into a grotesque carnival with cyborgs and flying tanks, lol.

@Lionhearte Well, this is originally a classic SoL, so you can hardly expect much from that. At least, if an author like Watamote's does not decide at some point to drastically change the genre.

Sooth, I was shocked and at the same time happy? somehow that the boyfriend thing did not (yet) develop, but since it is heavy implied that she wants a bf it wouldn't be that much of a shock an arc about it, but yeah a big arc would be very weird and not with what the manga is about.

@Lionhearte Are you happy? Don't tell me you're the kind of weirdos who think of female characters as their own and take female lead geting boyfriend as NTR very seriously, lol.

In general, from the point of view of the Japanese, good work should clearly correspond to the direction that it initially creates. That is, if, for example, the work is targeting a yuri audience, but ends up giving them het, this is considered misplaced positioning. Because you are simply deceiving people who spend money on your work while waiting for yuri. In this regard, it would be interesting to see how the Japanese audience reacted to Love Lab, which gradually evolved from CGDCT yonkoma into a clearer romcom.

nah lol, I just was thinking that is a bit to early to this kind os stuff but I kinda predict it wasn't a serious arc, now with the second part of your text... damn it I sure am new in the manga world, wtf is CGDCT, and I heard of love lab from a friend of mine and he describe as "the closest thing to yuri without being a yuri" but at the time I was reading normal books and wasn't giving a fuck about manga but now I might give a try for it, thanks for remembering me :D
