To be fair, Zirconia's getting more popular nowadays since people are on to the fact that diamonds really aren't that rare, and what makes them expensive is artificial scarcity. That plus the hatred of blood diamonds, and the fact that lab grown diamonds look better anyways.

Everyone's so poor, and oligarchy and enshittifiaction are so prevalent that nobody cares how snooty jewelry is anymore. Only necessities matter anymore. Jewelry can be plastic and glass for all most people care, so long as it looks good and is cheap.
