It's really strange. What could possibly lead to the situation where has to transfer to hicktown bumfuck so suddenly that not even his old friends know? Why can't he live with his parents and just go to a school in a different district? I mean, I guess it's for the narrative convenience of moving in with his cousin, but there would be much easier, less weird ways to accomplish that. It can't really be something dramatic at school, otherwise his classmates would probably at least have heard some rumors and not be entirely in the dark. Wonder if it will ever become relevant.

Really wondering, considering that until now the boy has been a good guy, doesn't seem the person to attack someone or cause a ruckus.
Maybe it's something that HAPPENED to him, and not that he himself caused...?
Or maybe something that happened to his parents, but this seems even more farfetched because no one of the older family people in the house even mentioned anything until now.
He went around shooting little girls with BB guns and accidentally shot a girl in the eye, confessed to his parents and moved to a rural village to escape his past.

WTF happened to the last chapters — we had an out of the blue tragedy arc complete with a time leap; now we got a rewind, all with neither explanation nor tie-in whatsoever. It makes no sense. If the last two chapter never existed, nothing would change with the story.
