@Random_Passer-by I can't exactly put my finger on it but I feel the same. It's like a very brief trope mishmash of stuff I recognize from all sorts of other grimderp manga- betrayal and murder by a child, an insidious <something> causing irrational changes in loyalty, and of course the mind control via tentacle needle. It's not like it all comes from the same place but the parts are all very familiar.

And this manga does nothing in particular with it. Meh. I admit that "the monster was actually cute and not harmful" stuff is inevitably becoming a cliche as well, but I'd rather have some more of that.

Just read "Kuro" thanks to people mentioning it here. Even if I wasn't convinced of my position above before, I sure am now. I loved Kuro; this one doesn't even come close.
