It's not simply "don't believe a word he says" - the key to all the stuff he does is that most of what he says is truth, or at least somewhat congruent with reality, with some carefully crafted lies mixed in, and all presented in a way that's calculated to point you at the conclusion that he wants you to reach. Picking out the lies may be relatively easy if you have some external source of knowledge like Judith, but the misdirection on top of the lies on top of the truth and half-truth makes it extra super hard. Having some of his "reality" being lies and misdirection that she fed to him makes it even worse - is he feeding those things back to her in order to misdirect her, or does he actually believe them? And how did he integrate those together with the actual reality he was getting from other sources?

And it's not helped that he's at least three parts insane right now - he's going to be even more unpredictable than ever, what with the occasional breaks with rationality combined with the impact on his judgement of constant pain as well as high doses of morphine.

The fact that he does seem to have accepted the story that he heard from Isabella makes me itch even more to see him go down, as well as to find out if Isabella survived - he apparently thought she was actually on his side, but still treated her like that . . . This guy really is just one long streak of shit.

Messy is an understatement . . .

I'm now wondering what the legal system in this country thinks about contracts signed under duress - something like a forced marriage could (in the modern world) be annlled if it was engaged in under duress, the setting here is an odd mix of realism and anachronism so it's hard to know how that would go. Also hard to know if Judith could stomach taking that path . . . as well as whether she'd want to risk being raped by Franz on their wedding night . . .

That said, I'm also wondering what he expects Reudiger to do when the marriage is revealed . . . If his plan to blame the terrorist attack on Reudiger/Winterwald doesn't work, Reudiger's response is going to be swift, brutal and extremely personal - Judith will be a widow pretty damn quick, and it's not like Reudiger would have any qualms about marrying a woman he just made into a widow while he was standing over her late husband's corpse . . . Judith would probably be kind of into that, too, given the circumstances.
