I can, first of all, she's not wallow in self-pity? she feels she doesn't deserved to get saved, especially by him, how is that self-pity? More like self-loath.

Second, she already said she will make him happy in chapter 10, and when he got bullied by her bullies she got really sad and she feels it's because of her (well not wrong), but that itself already prove she's changed, heck even the self-loath in the beginning already prove it enough she's not the same person before.
