what has Junko Furuta to do with bullying in shools???
Genuine Answer: They likely got the facts mixed up like a lot of people, think she was raped and killed by her fellow students and not the literal yakuza.
Real Answer: Weird bot/clout farming response from grifters that think they can abuse the rampant misinformation about Japanese societal ills for easy likes. Asian society of all sorts is messy, but Japan gets flak because weebs like Japan and basement dwellers deserve no happiness, I guess.

I still don't get this premise... How could anyone get so beaten and be treated so poorly in the school and no one is reacting... This is just too stupid.
Oh boy be prepared for a long one.

It’s pretty common. Some happen discreetly, some pretend they’re just buddies. And when bullies beat people up, they act as a group. They target one at a time even if they don’t realize it. So you’re trapped.

When a school does get aware, they treat it with doubt first. It may ruin reputation, but also, what most schools mess up with is that they think detention is enough. Some think a small time off is enough.

While in reality, they have to put effort to keep such students straight. So most schools rather pray on the chance that a one time punishment is enough.

Another flaw in the system is that teachers can’t lay their hands on the students. They’re the adults, they may get repercussions. This means even kids at 12 years old think they’re superior. I’ve seen cases where they lash out at teachers. These kids are nothing, but unfortunately the teachers couldn’t do anything about it without being at fault if they accidentally hurt the student.

It’s ironic. The system protects children who are bullies. It only relies on the parents to help set things straight, and such may only works on small children. Expulsions also doesn’t help as they may meet up with friends after school or target their victims outside. They also don’t get full repercussions because they aren’t adults yet.

Even if a student wants to be a saviour, that student could also receive punishment for getting involved. Then another bully’s friend will just step in to beat the victim more, blaming him.

Then… it only becomes serious once it’s too late. Once a life ends up barely hanging on, or even, when one or a few has finally been lost, only then they try to take action. Perhaps to save face. But it’s too late. Sure it could prevent future incidents. But what about the ones where the signs were already given, yet nothing was properly done to save them.
