I just realized that it's not that it's cowardly that makes me mad. It's that the manga tries to sell him as "kind" to the audience when it's really just that he's cartoonishly naive around all this cartoonish evil, AND, he's indecisive.

Ameri makes this ethical appeal to Yuuma about how killing Nishio is basically community harm reduction, and not only does Yuuma not dispute that, he never again consider the moral ramifications of killing Nishio. You might think I'm wrong, but any scene you reference is going to be a scene of Yuuma being worried about the CONSEQUENCES for killing Nishio, not the morality of killing him.

Also, he talks like them both going down for murder is the only option, but at this point, Ameri is already down for torture and imprisonment. If he wanted to leave Ameri out of it, he would be thinking about ways to kill Nisho in ways that involved Ameri as little as possible (killing, disposal, alibis, destroying evidence).

Mind you, I do think Ameri is playing Yuuma at least a little bit, because if Ameri was serious about JUST "helping" Yuuma, he, too, would just kill that rat bastard without getting anyone else mixed up in it, but the difference is that I don't think I'm supposed to view Ameri in a "kind" light here, and the nonsensically evil disposition of Nishio makes Amezato's ideas the most reasonable next steps they can both take, assuming Yuuma doesn't want Ameri to turn himself in, but for some reason he can't even decide on a "reasonable" range of options from which to choose.
