I have to ask. What is it with the usage of [closed brackets]? It's such an unnecessary and annoying looking way of adding emphasis when it shouldn't be needed. Brackets aren't used in any other media aside from "pirated" manga translations.

Who is it that goes "Ah, good thing that the word "Durability" was put in brackets so I know that it's important or that "Silver Wing" was a name of something and not someone who just arbitrarily says random words in the middle of their sentences."?

There is a reason why Indian programmers are so cheap, and it's not just because they are bad at English. Of course, that usually turns out to be a bad decision IRL too, but that's a natural consequence of management having a very faint idea of what the company's actual work is.

Your remark about companies outsourcing cheaper and less qualified labor is definitely relevant.

But it feels less justified in this case, the weapons were already paid for, and the quality of the weapon can impact the survivability of the person wilding it, and the customer is the one making the change.

At least it's not Capital Letters of more traditional fantasy. I'm still not sure how people can pronounce "there are powers and Powers" and be understood.
Looking at it from another angle, there are no Capital Letters in Japanese language, so they just can't do it, and have to use other tricks. Abusing furigana is the worst.
