Interesting concept, but execution feels lacking in comparison.
I think this would have worked better as a horror title rather than a shonen-esque battle one.
Still, good enough read for a one-shot.

The ingredients for an interesting story are definitely here, I can see how some of these elements got used effectively in the author's other story Summer Time Rendering, linked to this one as "Alternate Story". I agree with the other commenter about the execution here though, I'm glad that didn't get carried over.

I agree with the commenter above me. You can definitely see the seeds for what would later become Summertime Rendering, but on its own it's pretty lackluster in execution. Tanaka Yasuki actually said in an afterword in SR that he's really critical of his older works, so I think he probably agrees with that criticism lol.
