It was a very nice oneshot with a pretty sad ending, the art was 10/10.
Overall pretty good.

What the fuck? Why? I gotta stop giving these stories the benefit of the doubt the moment I see something go wrong, man...

A solid read, as sweet as it is to see a long lasting happiness there’s always those who simply peter out or don’t mesh, the hanako’s mindset and tarou’s attitude throughout do a good enough job at selling the relationship, really like how over the course of the story he shifts from distinct and vibrant to the average corporate slave design you see for most anime fathers, it also warmed my heart a little to see hanako fall back on her single buddy, it’s nice to be reminded she still has someone to rely on.

Now at the risk of sounding bitter and narrowing down on something in the story for something petty, I’m putting the majority of the blame on tarou for this tragedy, as a man I know how society expects you to go to school, be good at physical labor, go to work and donate every fiber of your mind and body to society for zero thanks, it’s heart wrenching & wholly inhumane I know, but to pour all of that self pity & dejection into your relationships is exactly how you stay miserable, now whether he was genuinely so misguided to think abandoning hanako was the right call or he was so desperate for any excuse to quit forcing himself at work that he opted for the “it’s not you, it’s me” approach I cannot say, but the end result is the same, both will be miserable for a time and I suspect tarou will be miserable for a lot longer whether he acknowledges it or not because unlike hanako he gave up happiness to satisfy an inferiority complex thus proving that he is the loser he thinks he is, it’s a sad but common case I wish men were more commonly taught not to avoid via healthy means. Despite all that rambling hanako is definitely to blame here too for not pushing when she had the opportunity, advocating for change during a relationship seems to be a problem along for her she unfortunately could not work out in this story.
