I think people are misunderstanding the last page. They're foraging for wild greens. In Japan people consider fresh wild greens a traditional delicacy and old people who live in the countryside after retirement are especially keen to forage. Shun no mono (seasonal things) is what it's called. If you read manga like Non non Biyori or Flying Witch, you'll see the characters doing this in some chapters.
