"OH no he is too powerful.. he SCAAAARY!"
"i am breaking up with you because you too stroooong!"
such assholes to judge him purely how he fights instead for his personality.
So far i can see he is a very nice guy and easy to talk to. He would be damn popular in real life or at least respected.

Author really had enough disrespect to include a literal King Ghidorah for the MC to defeat in the intro and call it "kinda weak"

I actually found her excuse somewhat understandable, if cruel (also I was glad it wasn't another 'banished incompetent' setup).
Veterans often don't fit in the civilian life after becoming stained with bloodshed, (the Crusader's comic from Darkest Dungeon comes to mind especially) and people can't help being afraid of them. Also, being with this guy must feel like dating a nuclear weapon.

Motherfucker is using the Flying Sword movement technique, no wonder people are afraid of him.
The MC is a Xianxia loose cultivator.
Bro's a fucking menace.

Jokes aside, the idea that: "I'm too stronk, I can't get a girlfriend!" is pretty laughable. A man who can lift a house, during an era of strife and difficulty, should be an unbelievably attractive partner.
To properly sell the idea that "I'm too strong!", the easiest way is to show that the MC can't control his strength.
It'd actually be a pretty good plot device: The MC got too strong, so his adventure objectives becomes to find a Strong Woman that can withstand him. :v

I haven't read those comics, or interacted too much with war veterans, but I can tell you that there's a pretty big difference from someone who is technically really strong but has the mentality of a regular obsequious Japanese person (eternal nape-scratching, "haha.." jap MC) --- and a PTSD-ridden guy with too much baggage to carry by normal people. I don't think it's weird for veterans to find it hard, themselves, to associate with "civilians" after all they've been through, not to mention the other way around.

TLDR: I wouldn't compare the MC with war veterans. These stories feature MCs that have all the benefits, but none of the realistic emotional baggage.

"And that's why that random innkeeper and his wife are on par with demigods."

"What the hell, DM?!?"

The true op is the author's adamantine balls to pull that with Japan copyright law. Maybe Toho is chiller than Nintendo, but still. Also, King Ghidorah is a victim of power creep in the Godzilla series where it got stomp a few minutes after showing up to show how terrifying Godzilla or the new threat is, happen at least twice if memory served.

Typical Japanese people, being scared of the unordinary. Throughout human history, strong people were always admired and sought after unless they're straight-up tyrants, and i'm supposed to believe "you'we too scawy I want someone nowmal UwU" ? Such a stupid setup, but seems entertaining enough for now.

Dumb reason to retired. If he wanted to become strong, endure all hardships to get that strong already then he should just keep chasing his goal without caring for other people.

Also the girl is just ridiculous, suddenly someone out of nowhere appear and be as strong as a dragon who is said to be a disaster is dumb.

I find it hard to invest into such a story.
I think it's more of being feared to people, even his party members. sure he could be the strongest (which was implied that wasn't his goal), but he would be ostracised, treated like a monster, he would be alone.

No, his dream is to become stronger, he endure all the hardship and make an effort to become strong, now just because people start fearing him he decide to quit. That is similar to mocking all his effort and dream until now, all his sweat and blood he pour into becoming stronger.

Do you see any strong person in other series retired because other fear them ? No, of course. To become the strongest not only talent, it require effort and tenacity against all odds too. They would often rather seclude themselves to become stronger than be sway by normal people, because their goal is crazy from the start, and they are mad enough to follow through with their dream, meaning they are madman, and now madman decide to retired to be a normal person ? That is just dumb writing.

Unless he was some super lucky kid who get isekaied and gain OP power right away then it make sense but nope, so, yeah, this is just dumb.
