Therefore, while not being as certain as a prophecy, it is, in fact, a form of speculation of the future. Objection! You have conflated ‘having an expectation’ with ‘issuing a verdict.’ Saying ‘usually’ is merely assigning a prior probability, not declaring the outcome. If it turns out great, then wonderful, my expectation gets updated.
You see, by doubting a negative speculation, you would also be leaning towards either a neutral or positive speculation. Because the future is uncertain, denying a possible negative outcome is also speculating about the future. Uncertainty doesn’t prohibit expectations, it simply prevents certainty.
Is it not better to prepare our expectations with the more probable scenario?
