Objection! You have conflated ‘having an expectation’ with ‘issuing a verdict.’ Saying ‘usually’ is merely assigning a prior probability, not declaring the outcome. If it turns out great, then wonderful, my expectation gets updated.
You see, by doubting a negative speculation, you would also be leaning towards either a neutral or positive speculation. Because the future is uncertain, denying a possible negative outcome is also speculating about the future. Uncertainty doesn’t prohibit expectations, it simply prevents certainty.
Is it not better to prepare our expectations with the more probable scenario?

Have a look at it again! I've never been denying a possible negative outcome from the very beginning! Instead I have only laid out the question about why must we speculate, meaning that I have been open minded for every possible scenario since the start of our discussion because doubt isn't to deny! To deny is to shut the idea itself down completely, doubt is what we must have as humans in order to prepare for any scenario that future may bring us.
To point it out by what you've said, "by doubting a negative speculation, you would also be leaning towards either a neutral or positive speculation", however, to doubt the negative speculation doesn't mean that I'll cut that speculation out entirely.
I may have used 'usually' with 'having an expectation', but I have not declared it as 'issuing a verdict' as I have always left it open with doubt.
As history of the world has shown, nothing is improbable. Why must you prepare for only the outcome that you favor instead of keeping an opened mind for every possible outcome?

Objection! I never claimed only one outcome was possible; I merely said one outcome seemed more likely based on previous observations. ‘’Usually’’ is the linguistic invention specifically designed to avoid certainty.

Also, notice how I said you could ‘’lean’’ toward a neutral or positive speculation. I never said you were cutting out the negative speculation entirely. ‘‘Leaning’’ implies a tendency, not an absolute. To doubt one or some, is to imply the others for it is human nature that the brain works on predictive processing.

To have expectations is not to reject alternatives. If it were, weather forecasts would simply declare, “Tomorrow may experience every conceivable weather condition; prepare equally for all of them.” I fear arriving with an umbrella, sunscreen, winter coat, swimsuits, and meteor shields would be somewhat impractical. You also do not study every single STEM subject to prepare for a surprise quiz in an Advanced Mathematics class; it’s highly likely to be a Mathematics quiz.

Likewise, if you walk into a kitchen, you’re more likely to prepare for a fire than a flood. That doesn’t mean you’ve denied the possibility of a flood, it simply means you’re prioritising the outcome that’s more probable based on experience.

An open mind does not require assigning every outcome equal weight. It requires being willing to update one’s beliefs when new evidence arrives.

It is different from claiming every ‘harem’ in these works as terrible, for even I have a collection of ‘harem’ works that are the exception. How many have we read, where it actually ends in a harem? If I were to find a series that actually develops it as the harem, then that would be great news. Until then, my expectation remains an expectation, not a verdict.

Probability guides preparation; possibility merely reminds us to remain adaptable. Preparing for the most likely event is not the same as denying every other event.

To the TS/N: at the bottom,

That would be a crazy fucking genre change.

Also, I didn't expect this to be a harem, but I suppose MC must harvest different talents from different girls.
That's certainly possible he be definitely more interested if missions pop up. Does it seem like she likes him though?

Why cry over harem, when harem is still banger?
Weak minded casual readers shall never be able to understand the mind of the mighty.
As I... Am the mighty.

Yesn't
Harem is Banger if the genre is in their right time and Place
Example : Rentarou from 100 Girlfriend
and clearly this story is One-Type Relationship like My wife from 3000 years ago
