"I was too weak and afraid to kill the poison dragon, so I rather commanded you to do it, knowing that you are weak as well by yourself."

Author, I know that you are trying, but you should just stop wanting to make her look better. It's working the opposite for me.

I mean the only reason she "commanded" Net to kill the poison dragon is because another country threatened them with the demand of Net specifically killing it. She could help him escape the country and likely go to war as a result but honestly Net sucks. Letting a bunch of her countrymen suffer or die for someone like Net would be a travesty. Net is useless outside of his ability to ask unlimited favors from powerful people that he can never actually pay back other than by asking someone else for a favor because he is again useless. Net's only redeemable trait is that he's kind and not even exceptionally so just about the same as any normal non-villain character shown so far.

Net should quit being an adventurer and just join the guild as a mobile job distributor. At least then he would be getting requests to the right people and they would get paid for it instead of Net taking all the credit and payment for quests he did not contribute to at all.

I wouldn't say Net is useless. Rather, the manga seems to be trying to make him the ultimate manager. It was him who discovered (and probably trained) the heroes. He is also extremely good at information gathering. He's a great tactition while being an average/below average fighter.

Yea, Net feels like one of those protagonists who would be a good guild receptionist or one of those people who work behind the scenes while the hero's go out and do the heavy lifting.

I suppose the only issue though is how dependent some of his companions become, to the point of parties literally becoming nonfunctional the moment he's away from them. It's funny how the king still refuses to acknowledge his importance and believes getting rid of someone like him would somehow make things better— dude, if Net dies and someone close to him figures out you're in any way responsible your kingdom's not lasting a week.

Yea, Net is like the Ultimate Networker, he always knows a guy who can solve the problem. That's why I think he's more useful on the field instead of having a desk job. He's learned so much from them that he's also a valuable asset despite being weak. That, plus there's just some connections you can't make simply by staying in town or at the guild.

Am I reading this right? Dragon attack turns it's survivor into a city-leveling mage-warrior?

Do the author not understand the implication of this?
