What a terrible morning, and the worst part is how relatable it is. We’ve all dealt with something similar, it’s not incredibly bad, just a bunch of minor things all adding up to make a terrible morning. And while some people would get mad and let it ruin their day. It seems she falls more into the camp of just giving up and sitting down for a bit to just relax before doing anything else for a while. Then she got a call from Kuroki which brightened up her day, still though, I feel for her that sucks, especially that yogurt part, nothing worse than a stomach ache after eating bad yogurt and the problems it’ll give you for the next couple hours.

Personally I would have just taken a nap, which it seems she did unintentionally, but that no doubt helped her… Shame about the ice cream though.

Yogurt is quite resilient, actually. They can persist a few weeks after expiration date if its in the fridge the whole time since the good bacteria will keep their turf against bad bacteria. However, the nutrition will gradually degrade. It'll become sourer everyday because the bacteria will continue to eat the sugar and generate acid.

Worst part? Once it turns bad, it IS nasty -- both in term of taste and the effect on you. A little bit of it can send you directly to hospital.

Her family must eat yoghurt only rarely if one got so old before getting eaten. I wouldn't eat yoghurt weeks past the best before date, but a few days mean absolutely nothing to yoghurt. It will still be as good as new. That being said, Japan isn't exactly a traditional big dairy country, so chances are lots of people over there don't eat yoghurt regularly.

You never, ever play chicken with possibly-expired dairy products.
