@seekermoc I'm guessing there is a small chance that author might have creepy guy (I can't remember his name either) help with the birth, since he's supposed to have been studying medicine or something if I remember correctly, but it's just a wild guess since he was mentioned in this chapter.

You'd kind of expect the birth to be the last thing to happen, thematically. Open with death/suicides, close with birth/new life.
There's going to have to be some quick resolution for that, though.

Using shochu as an antiseptic hmm. According to a google search anything with 40% alcohol seems to work temporarily as a disinfectant, and shochu is around 45%.
