That's why Zeno and Cecil can sense what they're feeling, since Zeno has a human form... wonder what will Kuro turn into... cute lil fox girl? That's completely not villainess like! 
Heroine "roofie" magic isn't necessary her intention, it appears it was something happening in the background of the game so Berita probably skipped that "little" tidbit, but now that she possessed a defensive spirit, everything will be up to her own "charm" not her spirit... Cecil must not leave Berita vicinity, unless he will get charmed... win/win
Also, I like that both Berita and Cecil are strongly against typical "harem" route, such pleasing thing amongst vast majority of isekai stories.
