The pacing is one thing, but the series suffer from the lack of the premise where the pacing has to deal with the more generic and safe slice of life. An example of a less safe slice of life is Chikasugiru Futari, where instead of the bath scene being taken as comedic relief is just part of their unusual mundane daily life, but for readers a different and interesting perspective. Somewhat similar to looking at a celebrity life or living in a culture with different values.
